Las
cortinas en la casa de un metafísico
Sucede que la deriva de estas cortinas
está llena de movimientos largos, como las
agotadoras
larguezas de la distancia; o como las nubes
inseparables de sus tardes;
o el cambio de luz, la caída
del silencio, el pesado sueño y la soledad
de la noche, cuyo movimiento
está más allá de nosotros, como el
firmamento,
subiendo y cayendo, soportando
la última vastedad, magnífico de ver.

The Curtains in the House of the Metaphysician
It
comes about that the drifting of these curtains
Is full of long motions, as the ponderous
Deflations of distance; or as clouds
Inseparable from their afternoons;
Or the changing of light, the dropping
Of the silence, wide sleep and solitude
Of night, in which all motion
Is beyond us, as the firmament,
Up-rising and down-falling, bares
The last largeness, bold to see.
Is full of long motions, as the ponderous
Deflations of distance; or as clouds
Inseparable from their afternoons;
Or the changing of light, the dropping
Of the silence, wide sleep and solitude
Of night, in which all motion
Is beyond us, as the firmament,
Up-rising and down-falling, bares
The last largeness, bold to see.
